Frank Montanez is a lieutenant with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department but is assigned as the Assistant Chief of Police for the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department (Sheriff contract city). He has been a “deputy” for over 27 years and had numerous assignments that included homicide, criminal intelligence, narcotics and SWAT. He has also worked corrections and patrol. 
 
He has a Master in Public Administration with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from National University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management from the Union Institute and University. He also attended other law enforcement formal training such as the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) course at Boston University, Role of the Police Chief, Budget Management, Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI) and the San Bernardino County Management Leadership Academy-Executive Development (MLA).   He is also an instructor at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Frank Bland Regional Training Academy and teaches various courses to newly promoted supervisors during the “Sergeant 101” training.
 
Lt Montanez believes in maintaining strong community partnerships by fostering relationships with community stakeholders. Lt Montanez is originally from Whittier but has resided in Rancho Cucamonga since 1994 when he was assigned to Rancho Station as a deputy. He is married and has two daughters. He loves spending time with his family and enjoys hiking the North Etiwanda Preserve and Claremont Loop.
