About Us

Amphastar Pharmaceuticals is a bio-pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, markets, and sells generic and proprietary injectable, inhalation, and intranasal products, focusing on products with high technical barriers to market entry. This is achieved due to the Company’s well established, vertically integrated platform with extensive in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities including: characterization of complex molecules (including recombinant DNA, or rDNA molecules), immunogenicity, peptide and protein development and production, particle engineering, sustained-release, novel formulation, active pharmaceutical ingredient/key components manufacturing, marketing and distribution.

Most of the Company’s products are used in the hospital, urgent care, and clinical settings as our products are distributed through group purchasing organizations and drug wholesalers. Additionally, the Company sells insulin active pharmaceutical ingredient, or API, products. The Company’s inhalation product, Primatene Mist®, is the only over-the-counter (OTC), FDA-approved asthma inhaler available at all major retailers and retail pharmacies.

With a global presence, Amphastar is headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga with facilities in South El Monte, CA; Canton, MA; Éragny sur-Epte, France; and Nanjing, China. Despite the Company’s global presence, all finished products are produced in the United States as control over safety, quality and compliance throughout the product development and manufacturing cycle remains Amphastar's number one priority to uphold with the patient in mind.
